Rates, timing, and methods for both products, straight from the label. Wool Pellets go in once and feed for months. Sweet Fish Brew is a liquid you mix and apply through the season.

They do different jobs

Sweet Fish Brew feeds fast, Wool Pellets feed slow. Most growers use both, on different schedules, for different reasons.

A season using both

The two work on different timescales, so they layer rather than overlap.

At planting. Work Wool Pellets into the soil at ½ to 1 cup per gallon, or 1 teaspoon per seed hole. Water deeply.
Four weeks later. Start Sweet Fish Brew at 1.5 tablespoons per gallon, as a drench or foliar spray.
Every four weeks after. Repeat the Sweet Fish Brew application through the growing season.
At four to six months. Reapply Wool Pellets around established plants and work them in.

Safety and storage

Both products are non-hazardous, and safety data sheets are available on request. Both are suitable for vegetable gardens, fruit trees, herbs, and other edible crops when used at label rates.

Sweet Fish Brew: store sealed in a cool, dry place, and shake before use. Check periodically for bloating or gasses.
Wool Pellets: store sealed in a cool, dry place. Shelf life is indefinite as long as they stay dry.

Three ways to apply it

Foliar spray

Spray directly onto leaves. Plants absorb through the leaf surface, so this is the fastest route in. Apply early morning or evening, not in midday sun.

Soil drench

Water it in at the base of the plant. This feeds the soil ecosystem in the root zone rather than the leaves.

Compost booster

Add to a compost pile to support decomposition and enrich the finished compost with sea minerals.

Good to know. Sweet Fish Brew has a mild fish odor that fades after application. It's strained to prevent clogging, so it runs through a sprayer or drip line without issue. Shake the container before each use, keep it sealed, and store it above freezing.

Wool Pellets

A slow-release soil amendment providing nitrogen and organic matter. Work into soil once at planting, then reapply every four to six months as needed.

Good to know. The pellets absorb water and swell, so give beds a deep first watering after working them in. Nitrogen releases gradually as soil microbes break down the keratin fibers, which is why they feed for months rather than days and carry virtually no burn risk to seedlings.
